Training Description & Objectives

This training has been specially designed for:

Overall Objectives:

​1. Develop understanding and integration of "Breath Literacy" — the wisdom & knowledge of how to breathe optimally, moment by moment, breath by breath and in circumstances all throughout life. 

2. Understand how breathing is both an Art and Science.

DAY 1:

​Experience the "Power of Breath" for yourself

Part 1: Utilize techniques of the breath to develop presence - Art

Part 2: Learn the mechanics of optimal breathing - Neuroscience

Part 3: Discuss and integrate learning and experiences - Breath Literacy

DAY 2:

​Experience the "Power of Breath" to share with others

  • Identify how to incorporate self care, coping and empowerment strategies into your daily life and how to teach them to others

  • Learn how to effectively share specific breath practices with diverse client, student and patient populations

  • Practice teaching important breaths including diaphragmatic belly breathing and deep relaxation breathing

About Laurie Ellis-Young, MTC SYT

A pioneer in breathwork as an empowering and healing modality, Laurie is co-author with her husband, Dr. George T Ellis, of Breath Is Life: TAKING IN and LETTING GO, How To Live Well, Love Well, BE Well. 

 

As founding director of Breathe The Change LLC and co-founder of the nonprofit organization BreathLogic®, Laurie is realizing her vision of breath awareness and wellness practices being taught in corporations, schools, universities, medical centers, and organizations around the globe.


From 2016 to 2021, Laurie and George lived in Ukraine where George worked for OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) setting up mental health programs for Peace Monitors. Since the onset of war in Ukraine in 2022, they continue to train Ukrainian mental health professionals in care for self and others through Breath Literacy.
